Class Expectations

My name is Anna Maurice and I am not sure what to expect for Card 101. Despite the fact that it is a required class, I am excited to be a part of it. I hope to be able to expand my writing abilities and learn how to write smoother and more efficiently. I have always loved writing, and I would like to get better at it. I also know that there is a ton of writing in college, and I hope to improve my skills so that I can preform better in my classes over the next four years.

I am not sure of all the material that will be covered in the class, but I am sure that I will learn how to be a better writer. I think that the ability to write well is critical no matter what your job is in life. The ability to express your thoughts and ideas well is an essential skill to be learned. Many times in the past I have had an idea in my head, but finding a way to express it clearly so that the reader can understand my point of view has been challenging. As a history major, being able to write clearly and concisely will be essential for all of the essays I write in the future. I look forward to expanding those skills throughout the course of the year with this class.

Clearly there is a reason that this class is required among all the freshmen at North Central. It is my assumption that it has proven over the years to be a very successful and helpful class to the students. Therefore, it has remained a requirement for all freshmen. Ultimately, my expectations for this class are to develop a better knowledge of writing, to better express myself, and to walk out of the class a better writer than when I walked in.
