Rainy Days

Image
The weather today has been extremely rainy and crummy, which has been a consistency throughout the last couple of weeks. It is becoming hard for me to deal with it, and I am struggling to go about my daily activities with the rain continuing so much. Despite my love for fall, this time of year is always a challenge for me for multiple reasons. For starters, I am currently commuting, which is much harder with the rain. Another issue the rain brings is more personal, relating to my depression.      I am currently a commuter who has a 45 minute drive to get to campus, and I have to plan that into my day. It becomes much harder for me to drive when it is raining because it is harder to see the road. It is also harder to actually drive on the road in those conditions. Another issue is that the faster you drive, the less you are able to see in the rain. This means that I have to slow way down in order to be able to safely drive to school in the mornin...

Documentary Project Update

Image
So far I have made a lot of progress on my documentary project. I have been able to get a significant ways through the writing process and get a lot done. However, it has been hard balancing this project with other projects at school. I have been assigned many projects, some of which being given similar due dates. It has been very hard to balance school with my personal life, and I have had to prioritize certain assignments over others. Unfortunately, I have had to give some of my other projects more attention than my documentary project recently. The due date for the final version of the documentary project paper is not for a while compared to some of my other assignments. Due to this, I have had to put other assignments ahead of this one. I have given this project as much attention as possible given my current schedule, but I am looking forward to focusing more on this paper once my other projects are out of the way. With the fall break coming up, many...

Fall Break

Image
At the end of the week, North Central College will be on fall break. Even though it is only a few days long, it is much needed time off. I have been balancing way too much lately, and I am looking forward to having time away from school and away from campus. I love North Central, but I am excited to be getting away for a few days.      I have family in Orlando, so my family makes frequent trips down to Florida. During the fall break, my mom and I are going to go down there and visit. I love being down in Florida because the weather is very nice most of the time, and it is always much sunnier. Considering that I have depression, I always appreciate a chance to have sunny weather because it helps my mood. I love the warm weather, as well. I am not a big fan of the cold this time of year, and I always love the atmosphere down there. My mom and I are going to go to the Halloween party in Disney World because we both adore the Disney parks. I have been looking forward to the f...

Friends

Image
In a few weeks I am going to host a Halloween party. Not with a lot of people, but just with my old friend group from high school. I am still in regular contact with them, and I try to hang out with them as much as new schedules all allow. We were very tight in high school, which is why we are still so close. I have also made new friends in college, and sometimes I find it hard to balance the two groups. I text and call my old friends regularly, and I see my college friends in person all the time on campus. This situation makes me wonder what other people go through when they start college.       I know that a lot of people tend to lose contact with their high school friends. I also know that it depends on the individual person as far as what ends up happening overall. My mom was closer with her college friend group, as was my dad, but my brother and I are closer with our high school friend groups and make regular efforts to see them and co...
